I always find it a bit sad to hear of a large company going out of business. You know that many will be out of work and that someone’s legacy has now ended. The journalist of this article; however, has no problem with the fact that Heenan Blaikie has closed its doors after over 40 years. Provided this article is correct and that the majority of staff is now simply employed at different firms I suppose it isn’t a huge tragedy. Despite their hundreds of staff including 500 lawyers, the focus of the article is towards the exorbitant fees that lawyers bill and that the average Joe has no hope of affording the legal services that they need.
