CIBPA Place in Vaughan is one example of how that care can look different.
Set within a restored heritage home, the not-for-profit overnight respite centre is designed for adults living with dementia. It offers short-term stays in a familiar, residential setting that helps support daily routines while giving families and caregivers meaningful respite.
Our teams at X-Design Inc. and Newcombe Design Associates were proud to contribute to the project, working alongside a group of partners brought together by Universal Care. Many of those involved volunteered their time and expertise in support of a more accessible, community-based approach to care.
The project reflects a broader shift in senior living and healthcare design. Care does not always need to happen in large, institutional environments. Smaller, familiar spaces can offer comfort, continuity and a stronger sense of home while still meeting important practical needs.
For us, CIBPA Place is a reminder that thoughtful design can play a meaningful role in how care is delivered, and in how supported people feel while receiving it.
